The BE2c following this accident at Redcar.
On the 2nd of May 1916 this aircraft took off at 23.00 hrs from Redcar to patrol an area between Hartlepool and Whitby,
it reportedy narrowly missed Navy Zepellins L16 and L17. On its return to Redcar at 00.01 hrs on the 3rd of May
it struck a small aerodrome searchlight on landing
which removed the aircrafts undercarriage. The resulting crash casued severe damage to the aircrafts engine and undersurfaces
and also smashed the propeller. The damage was given as Cat R/FA, it was repaired and returned to service and transferred to RNAS Cranwell on the 24th of May 1916
before suffering another Cat R/FA accident on 18th July 1917. It was deleted from stock some time later, probably after another mishap on the
2nd November 1917. Having been built by Blackburns of Leeds, it was delivered new to Redcar on the 19th of December 1915.
