On the 17th of June 1918 this aircraft suffered engine failure whilst in the air, the pilot force-landed it in the sea seven miles north-east of Scarborough. The pilot was uninjured. A salvage operation was attempted but the aircraft sank whilst under tow from the drifter "Venus"
