Piper Pawnee G-BFRY at Sutton Bank Gliding Club.

On the 23rd of September 2007 this aircraft had taxied for about 100 metres with the glider tow ropr tangled in the Pawnee's tail wheel. With the rope jamming the wheel from turning during this taxi run the wheel's retaining nut and attachment had been sheared off. The rope was cut off the wheel but the damage to the tail wheel axle was not noticed. During the aircraft's at 14.00hrs on the next towing run the tail wheel fell off. The tug aircraft continued in its tow and landed on the remaining axle and yoke. Damage was reported but only slight and the aircraft was repaired.
