On the 2nd of October 2006 this glider was in collision with another glider at 1500ft just north of the Yorkshire Gliding Club site at Sutton Bank and close to a bank of cloud. Both gliders collided almost head on and a wing of each glider broke away. Sadly the pilot of this glider was killed when the glider crashed towards the bottom of Sutton Bank. The AAIb investigation found that a GPS received had been mounted on the canopy and this along with its wiring had been cable-tied in place, this prevented the canopy from being jettisoned should the need arise.
