A four-engined bomber near Hutton le Hole.

I am told by former Gillamoor resident Mr Ken Luck that a four engine heavy bomber landed just north of Hutton le Hole in 1944, the landing was made just to the West of the Hutton le Hole to Castleton road. The aircraft was not badly damaged although it probably landed wheels-up. A heavy guard was placed on the site until the aircraft was removed by road. Mr Luck visited the aircraft as it lay on the Moor, biking down from Gillamoor as a child.

I have yet to determine what aircraft this was and when exactly it crashed.
