On the 20th of June 1944 at 18.30hrs a "Tiger Moth single seater" is recorded in police records as crashing near Easington towards the north-east end of the North Yorkshire Moors. The pilot was said to be unhurt, but the aircraft was recorded as being damaged.

The identity of the aircraft and its unit are not yet known.
